Great clip Smoke! I love how you managed to use the 32X theme for the intro. ^_^ Some things i noticed : 1. The intro pics are still the old versions, i did much better ones remember? ^_^ 2. On the Vs screen the name of the stage you are fighting in should be in green. (so its red and green) Also, would it be possible to duplicate the Arcade intro? (0:25) where you see them performing moves and stuff? |

Could you upload it again? --- Цитата: NeoVamp ---Also, would it be possible to duplicate the Arcade intro? --- Цитата: Smoke от 25 Январь 2011, 12:54:09 ---I think it'll be slower because of loading of the stages here and there. --- Конец цитаты --- Aah okay, then not sure if it would be worth it.. since its supposed to be a quick clip without loading. Oh and about the secret fighter messages, i noticed that the Snes does not use the zoom thing from the arcade, so maybe MKII Unlimited could have a similar thing? 1. fight against someone 2. trigger secret fighter 3. fighter poses and "PLAYER ONE GET READY!!" flashes in the middle of the screen. (no poppup like in genesis mk2) 4. screen changes to that of the portal (without lifebars) (not sure if thats possible with the genesis rom) 5. screen turns to white for a flash 6. CONGRATULATIONS appears in the middle of the screen with the [?] box underneath it. 7. You have found the passage from the outworld to the earth realm. 8. now you must battle with an undiscovered warrior from MK1. 9. PREPARE YOURSELF!! TO RETURN TO GORO'S LAIR. 10. screen turns black and next fight is you vs secret fighter in goro's lair. would be much cooler then Probe's "LOL GO TO GORO'S LAIR" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7fLETdHOb0&feature=related Here's a clip of how the Snes does it. (could only find this one with a hacked in Jade) |

I think it's possible, but time is needed to figure out how to do that ^_^ |
| kreeddem:
is there a possibility to put the original life bars in? |
| gustavo:
MR SMOKE por favor cuando estara listo el juego... Saludos |

--- Цитата: kreeddem от 29 Январь 2011, 14:38:53 ---is there a possibility to put the original life bars in? --- Конец цитаты --- Not possible, lifebar/counter/etc are part of the background and use limited colors, to get a more detailed lifebar like the 32X version requires more colors. more colors for the lifebar (shades of grey) means less colors for the backgrounds, and the backgrounds are already short on palette colors. :( I did find out something interesting though.. Just a simple palette change, nothing else. just swapped the background colors to those of the 32X stage. (32X MKII displays the backgrounds with the Megadrive hardware) |
| Mad:
NeoVamp, wow, its great! |
| RT:
So, basically that means that 32x-quality backgrounds can be made on MD? |
| NeoVamp:
Sadly no, the 32X backgrounds use the full 16+16 palette, while the Megadrive loses 4(?) colors of that to display the timer and health bar. So while some things can be used (like the deadpool colors) most would look different with the missing colors. But i am trying to find out if there are ways to make the current backgrounds appear warmer, and maybe see if some stuff can be ripped and perhaps put into a future MKII Unlimited. (like the left and right trees in the living forest) I did rip Goro's Lair from the 32X rom and fixed it with the right colors, it uses 15+4 colors so it would be possible to use, might be nice to use in that MKII Pure Arcade Edition that people were asking for a couple pages back. ;) |

Dans Fordens pallet on MD is Grey why can we use that pallet for the lifebars. The original lifebars used in the arcade, use 23 shades of grey from the ones I got from MKWarehouse. We could redraw them with dan fordens pallet to make the hud look a little like the arcade. If we add these in game I think it will add a little more to the arcade experience? isn't this the point of the project to make the MD version more arcade like and add new features? It's possible, anything is! |
| NeoVamp:
Hmm you are right, I forgot about Dan Forden's face. And yes i agree, it would add a lot to the arcade experience. :) It might just be possible to do this. (though i am no programmer) It would look something like this. The only problem is that it uses 1 white color, and i don't know if thats even available in the MKII palette.. This stuff is confusing, i keep forgetting what goes where. So Dan Forden's face = sprite layer but the green/red/yellow/grey for the lifebar is part of the background layer? then how do they display this guy? Sprite layer with background palette? oh so confusing.. :'( |

Also in your example. Why is the no wins counter or press start on player two's side? |

--- Цитата: kreeddem от 03 Февраль 2011, 20:31:38 ---There would be no need for a white colour in the lifebars. --- Конец цитаты --- Black could work, its just nicer to have it in white.. looks cleaner. but if its not possible then black would work just fine. --- Цитата: kreeddem от 03 Февраль 2011, 20:31:38 ---Also in your example. Why is the no wins counter or press start on player two's side? --- Конец цитаты --- Thats because i used the test mode in the rom so its cpu vs cpu, and there's no "press start" because i made the screenshot just as it blinked away, I wanted to put the focus on the lifebar, and not on the text. ^_^ And here's a w.i.p. ;) 31 colors with the evil shadow priest. But i still need to edit the stone upper part some more, its too bright. |
| RedArcher:
NeoVamp, is the stone part of the stage in your sketch are too bright? I think it looks okay ^_^. |
| NeoVamp:
I'm glad you like it, I'm very happy it came out so good because it shows that there was no reason for Probe to remove the floating shadow priest in the first place. |
| RT:
As we see, there was no reason for Probe to remove anything MD version lacks. Except for their outstanding lazyness. |

| kreeddem:
I just think probe wanted to keep the game at 3mb and not pay for the extra 1mb which was needed to make the game full. |
