Advanced NES ROM Utility - Split / Expand / Patch / Fix Checksum

This is an easy to use utility for performing some tasks on NES / FC ROMs!
Following functions are included:

• Read iNES, NES2.0 and Nintendo header information
• Fix checksums in Nintendo header
• Split into single ROM files for burning (PlayChoice-10 support)
• Split into equal sized parts for burning (VS Unisystem support)
• Expand ROM (requires Nflate)
• Apply IPS, UPS, BPS, BDF and Xdelta patches

Notes:

• Remember that only just about 33% of all NES ROMs contain a Nintendo header (which often is malformed or contains wrong information)
• Fixing checksums only works if a Nintendo header is present
• Expanding requires Nflate to be in the same directory as Advanced NES ROM Utility
• Requires .NET Framework 4.5

This is a small Windows utility for applying Game Genie codes to roms. This saves you the trouble of having to enter them each time the game is played. For platforms:

An excellent NES rom header editor. It has a convenient graphical interface.

A pretty basic program. It will check the contents of the header of an iNES rom. This program follows the iNES format as closely as possible, and bytes that are reserved to be 0 will be set to 0. Some roms use SRAM even though the header does not mention it (some MMC3 and MMC5 mappers, for example).

NES header editor by Quietust which supports the standard iNES format and NES 2.0 format. 

This utility will:

• read NES ROM info based on the iNES Header (mapper, mirroring, etc)
• read NES ROM info based on the NES 2.0 Header
• clean a rom header by blanking out bytes 7 - 15
• remove the iNES header (to prep for burning to eprom)
• output the relevant BIN as a non-headered ROM
• output the relevant CHR/PRG bin files to burn with eprom burner for dev carts
• output the relevant CHR/PRG bin files to burn with eprom burner for Vs. Unisystem

It’s best to use the auto split option unless you know the PRG and CHR are incorrect sizes, since this info is based on the iNES header.

NESHead is a NES header editor tool for iNES files. It’s also a simple ROM manager which allows you to verify your NES Headers against a database.

If you’re interested in simply generating/fixing NES headers the quick-way, you could ignore the database-part.

A utility designed to convert ROM files from the UNIF format to the modern NES 2.0 standard. It determines the correct header configuration and mapper number using an internal database.

If the ROM file is missing from the database (e.g., rare dumps), you will need to refer to the board mapping table and manually inject the correct header data.
