Hello megavolt85,
Please excuse me for writing in English. I am a Spanish speaker, and I hope my English is good enough to explain the issue.
First of all, thank you very much for your excellent work on PicoStation.
I would like to report a possible RC5 issue. I don't know if it is a firmware bug or something specific to my hardware, but after many tests I think it is worth reporting.
Hardware
PlayStation SCPH-5502 (PAL)
PU-18 motherboard
PaulCode PicoStation PCB by ManCloud
Firmware: RC5
SD format: exFAT (Windows full/slow format, default allocation size)
I always use Fast Boot when launching games.
SD cards tested
I tested two different genuine SanDisk Ultra 32GB microSD cards:
SDSQUNR-032G-GN3MA (100 MB/s)
SDSQUNC-032G-GN6MA (80 MB/s)
Both cards:
Passed H2testw with zero errors.
Work perfectly once PicoStation has booted.
I tested many games and even left Crash Team Racing replay running for one hour without any issues.
Problem
Sometimes, when I power on the console:
1. PicoStation starts loading.
2. The PicoStation menu freezes before the Fast Boot / Normal Boot selection screen appears.
3. I power the console off.
4. The next power-on sometimes boots into the original PlayStation BIOS.
5. I power off again.
6. The following power-on boots PicoStation normally and everything works correctly.
Once PicoStation has started correctly, I have never experienced any crashes during gameplay.
I also had one strange event where the PicoStation menu changed from Spanish to English by itself. After restarting, it returned to Spanish and all settings, colours and game covers were still there.
Because the same behaviour happens with two different genuine SD cards that both passed H2testw, I suspect the issue may be related to the boot initialization rather than the SD cards.
Has anyone else reported similar behaviour with RC5?
Thank you again for your great work.
