higan v110
A multiplatform emulator with a very confusing history. Originally called bsnes, in release 0.71 the GUI was completely redesigned and the emulator started to develop towards multisystem, and later it was renamed higan. But as higan turned out to be very unfriendly and not convenient for the game, Near, first again separated the bsnes kernel from the project into a separate emulator with a more convenient interface and much faster multithreaded PPU renderer. Then the "byuu" project was spun off to build on the success of bsnes and offer an easy to use application for all emulator kernels, after Near left the project, the community continues to develop a new project ares - which combines higan, byuu and bsnes. higan has a rather unusual interface and all that would be fine, but the requirement to import ROMs (think making copies) of any ROMs you intend to run in it is extremely inconvenient. So we advise you to look in the direction of ares.
